This week’s list is in homage to me deciding to go back to the gym before all the New Year’s “resolutionists” come in and crowd the place. These songs are just some suggestions I have to add to your gym playlist to make the thought of exercising a bit more exciting. Some aren’t songs I would listen to on a regular basis but are good to get you in a good mood to get that “maga body”.
1. Lethal Bizzle ft. JME and Tempa T- Rari Workout
Some of the big names in the English grime and general music scene came together to create this track that will be sure to get you ready to head in and run a mile or two. They want to let you know that even if you can’t make it to the gym that day you better be getting that work out in so you can look good in your Italian whip even if it isn’t a Ferrari.
2. Big Bang – Bang Bang Bang
Bit of a corny choice of song name considering the bands name but Big Bang are one of the most successful products of the Kpop machine. They are synonymous with the word Kpop because they are one of the groups that brought it to its current mainstream success. The five of them ; G-dragon, T.O.P, Daesung, Taeyang and Seungri have been going since 2006 and show no sign of slowing down even with each of their successes as solo artists. Bang Bang Bang is just a light-hearted, fast-paced dance track that will work well to keep the heart rate up. I would highyl recommend checking out their other music especially their latest album MADE which they released this December.
3.FACT – a fact of life
Japanese rock band began in 1999 but have unfortunately broken up in the past year but it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy one of their many great songs. This is a high energy rock song perfect for running or pretty much any exercise you want to apply it to as long as its relatively fast. It even progresses into a slower rhythm half way through to give you time for a break if needed. Despite being Japanese the band’s songs are mostly in English granted not the best at times but it will still allow you to sing your heart out surrounded by strangers.
4.Billon – Slave to the vibe
Can’t do this list without adding some dance music so I decided to add Billon to the list. They are a London based house production/dj duo slowly but surely making a name for themselves. “Slave to the vibe” has a very similar vibe to it that a lot of house music has these days but nonetheless it is a great song to feature on any workout playlist so you can keep that positive attitude while you make sure that every part of your body aches the next day.
5. Kerri Chandler and Jeremy Underground Boiler Room Set
The last choice on this list is for the people that tend to skip through playlists to find songs they haven’t listened to 1000 times. This boiler room set from two big names will have you groovin on the gym floor and seeing as it is more than 2 hours long it will prevent you spending more time on your phone then on your workout. Boiler room sets are ideal if you want something long to listen to and this one is especially good and I highly recommend that you check it out for casual listening as well as some house party music.
